Lost Odyssey Journal - The 1,000 Year Old Virgin
The fires are starting to burn out, the dogs tied up and Kaim and company are coming home. Finally on the 4th and last disc of this Odyssey that while not lost most assuredly will be missed. There have been some recent twists and turns in the plot but nothing that would surprise most people that have played any other RPGs in the past. Even finally starting to grind a bit due to the last half of the 3rd disc being chock full of cutscenes. Out of the few complaints I have for this game that would be a big one.
They certainly have made an epic game with Lost Odyssey and its been a fun ride but in the future I would hope the developers learn to balance cutscenes and moving the story forward with gameplay better. I find myself with the controller down jamming on the A button to advance the cutscenes more then actually playing. Coupled with the low encounter rate (I have literally ran through one section of a map with no encounter more than once) makes the sense of balance in the game teeter on the edge. Now they have done a good job keeping that balance with fast moving level ups and the well designed skill learning system but its not flawless and that is where i’m stuck now at the end game.
My feelings on the game are still positive and its a great appetizer for the meal that will be Final Fantasy XIII. I’m just hoping it holds up long enough for me to finish the side quests. Time to go feed the Pipot, next week the last journal from Lost Odyssey.
