Rumors & News from around the Inter-tubes
While the CES has had little to offer the gaming community so far, other morsels of news have been dropping lately and I’m here to give you some of the choicest cuts.
First, if you’re a fan of Capcoms venerable fighting series then a fine contributer over in the NeoGAF forums has some juicy scans of a Famitsu Mag featuring some concept art of a new character. This will be the latest cool looking fighter to get converted into a crappy 3D model via Capcoms new 3D engine (which I think may be the one that Midway threw out after the last Mortal Kombat). In the rumor department a few goodies for Xbox360 include news from Xbox Evolved that Rare is bringing some of their classics N64 hits into the XBLA. That could be cool if the update the visuals and carry over those legendary tight controls, besides it’s not like they’ve had a big hit lately (besides the overly addictive Viva Pinata). Also in Xbox360 rumor-town is the often overblown comment that Microsoft would support whichever HD-Disc format the consumers wanted with their add on player options, which has been translated to “M$ <3’s teh Blu-Ray 4 eva!” This of course hot on the heels of Warner Brother’s format announcement of Blu-Ray exclusivity.
And I would be remiss if I did not mention the new game consoles unveiled at the show however, which include these gems over at the Wired Blog which should beat out the Xbox360 for sales in Japan shortly.

Don’t diss Street Fighter IV or you will get dragon punched. And I have to go with the “can’t believe people even believe the possibility of a blu-ray add on for the 360″ department. Even if you aren’t willing to believe to MS was hoping on the HD-DVD bandwagon just to stall Sony and Blu-ray and create an opening for their digital distribution dream then you have to see how it just wouldn’t make sense this late into the game and how far MS has come with Marketplace.
