Welcome Back Gizmondo?
If you remember the fiasco that surrounded this device last year, then you may be wondering why anyone would want to associate themselves with that name. But one man feels that he is honor bound to deliver on the promises made to investors and potential consumers, and will carry the weight of that task like Atlas himself.
Carl Freer, Swedish legend in the making, has decided to up the ante and provide some competition in the handheld entertainment market worldwide. Rather than list out all the lengthy deets here, I will direct your attention to tech blog “Endgadget” for a succinct translation of the original Swedish interview. But a few high points include:
- Carl believes there is a still a market for Gizmondo and is “ashamed” of his failure — he hopes the resurrection can pay back early investors
- An “easy to use program” will allow kids to create games, save them to SD, and play them on their Gizmondo
- Price: $99, possibly free if Carl can work a deal with a cellular provider
The idea of supporting Homebrew out of the box is intriguing, especially at that price point. Who knows this could be like a successful GP32, except with proper marketing it might actually take off outside of Korea, and if they can get some decent games on it then all the better.

Hopefully no more Ferrari’s will be harmed in this endeavour
