National Gaming Day… At the Library!!!

I swear kids today are so freakin’ lucky. When I was a young Pudd back in the day, growing up in the earliest of the early 80′s we had an Atari. I began gaming at the tender age of 5 thanks to my parents finding this new gaming “fad”, and I was hooked.

Here we are some 30 years after the birth of console gaming and along the way we picked up PC gaming, 3D polygons, arcade quality graphics at home, surround sound gaming, high capacity storage disc and online game distribution. I won’t go on about the details of gaming’s history since there are a number of resources dedicated to the topic, but I can say I never thought the industry would get to a point where it’s on par with Hollywood for our entertainment dollars. So E3 came and went and like I expected there was little fanfare. Aside from Microsoft trying to muscle in on Nintendo’s casual market the only real surprise was the multi-platform release of FFXIII. So why did this years show continue E3′s downward spiral? For a show that is supposed to be the home of breaking news and market changing announcements there was very little shown that anyone reading their daily news blogs didn’t already know.

E3 Coming, Prepare for Wave of Meh…

Back from vacation, and just in time to begin regurgitating all the news that falls out of E3′s sloppy maw. I saw the biggest new release for our household 2 weeks ago, as the second heir to the Thunderpudd Kingdom was born. But between the requirements of my fatherly duties (and doodies) I will be doing my damnedest to stay on top of what is sure to be ho hum announcements and several number laden pissing matches between the big 3 hardware players.
