EA Loves the MicroTrans’

In a move that should surprise no one, EA has decided to milk… I mean provide their fine customers a chance to enhance their purchase of Battlefield: Bad Company with a selection of several additional weapons via the various digital marketplaces. It’s common knowledge that EA, Namco and really just about all the big boys nowadays, have learned to embrace the digital distribution channels available with the current gen systems, but some have made their offerings more consumer friendly and or worthwhile than others. I mean who can forget Oblivion’s horse armor? It was armor… for your horse… that, unlike in an MMORPG, no one else but you would ever really enjoy, and served no practical purpose in the game.
No commentsArmchair Developers Take Note!
Alright, first Microsoft gives you kids XNA. Then Nintendo throws out some budget dev apps for WiiWare. Now Sony has thrown their hat into the ring with PSN Developer kits. Long winded details from Gamasutra mention that for the low, low price of $1200 you too can get this all in one debug unit and PSN distribution kit. And if you act now they’ll throw in a free PhyreEngine middleware app to make the next best selling title with.
Truth be told this is a good deal for budding talent with out the connections to get signed by a big publisher, or maybe for any defunct former PC development teams looking to regroup and keep doing what they love. Bottom line is, there is no good reason for you amateurs not to be making me some killer new games to play on the cheap. Now get crackin’… cracky!

I’m sure Falthorn is still working through all the harder settings and getting nice and bloody in the palace. In the meantime I thought it might be good to give a quick impression of the final game. With the avalanche of games coming in and a big one for me with Lost Odyssey (look for my chronicles of this game starting this weekend) I decided to just play the wimpy Human mode and finish this game off in one weekend with a quick run through. I would say i’m happy with this game, not impressed, but happy.
No commentsThunderpudd’s Soapbox: Developers May Cry About it!
So all the PS3 users who bought Devil May Cry 4 got home, wiped the dust off that’s been gathering since Uncharted, and sat back ready to enjoy Capcom’s latest demon slaying tour de force until their eyes began to bleed. But much to their chagrin, they were “treated to an exciting 22 - 25 minute load process as the disc spins a few gigs of data onto your hard drive.” At least that’s how Capcom Community Blogger Chris “Kramez” Kramer words it. Treated makes it sound as if you, the loyal consumer (maybe even one of those die-hard psfanboys that signed your silly little petition awhile back), are about to receive a “treat.”

2 commentsSquare Producer: “FFXIII Out this Year.” Square Exec: “JK/LOL!”
If you’re still holding your breath for FF13 to come out this year, and marked down 2008 as the year you lose your petal to almost-real anime ladies, then loosen the belt buckle around your neck and squeegie the red x’s off of your social-life calendar.
Final Fantasy 13 probably, maybe, most-likely, my sources point to no, won’t be making it into the year of our lord 2008.

Marvel breaks ties with EA. Fighting game fans around the world rejoice. Follow the link for full story.
In a statement sent to GameTap from Marvel, the company said that the move “will not affect Marvel’s ongoing plans to release fighting games based on the Marvel properties in the future.”
You know what to do Capcom, now get to it! Think of all the milking you can do with Marvel vs. Capcom on XBLA. Milk me for my money Capcom, I’m begging you.
No commentsThis Just In…
It has basically been confirmed, almost definitely, pretty sure, mostly that FFXIII will be out this year. I just wanted to make sure that Ponn was made aware of this “practically confirmed” news, which has been said to come from the proverbial horses mouth, as seen here:”HERE.” That is all, Thunderpudd out!

Final Fantasy XIII screentshots
Crack open a fresh case of hair gel and prepare to spike your coiffe all the way up. The Magic Box has a ton of FF13 and versus scans showing a plethora of characters and environments.
There don’t appear to be any plot centric images but none-the-less, spoiler warning ahoy:
1 commentDevil May Cry 4 Demo Impressions
So…. How ’bout that DMC4 starring Shooty McStabby? The new demo (or old, if you had a peek at the E3 demo) is split into two sections: an adventure style, exploration level capped at 10 minutes and a mini and full-on boss fight capped at the point where the fire belching boss Berial murders you with a sword the size of lower-Manhattan.
