Devil May Cry 4 Demo Thursday
The official Capcom blog let’s out with the news that the demo for the newest gen Shooty McStabby one-liner spewing franchise, Devil May Cry dumps onto the interwebs this Thursday.
With DMC’s track record (1 = awesome, 2 = teh suck, 3 = wtfhard, 3 Special Edition = awesome again) this demo will be the barometer by which we’ll know if this is one to look out for, or if we’ll hold our horses for another special edition which actually makes it playable.
1 commentMonday Morning Rant - Final Fantasy XIII
Can we please stop acting like Final Fantasy XIII has even the most remote chance of coming out in 2008?! It kills me that we are not playing it anytime soon but for those who keep insisting on putting Final Fantasy XIII in your 2008 Playstation 3 games list just stop, for the love of humanity stop.
The only country that has even that slim chance of playing it is Japan and its still a very minisucle chance. No new trailers, a few pics, no demo or word of a demo all of these things point to nothing in 2008. “So when will it be out?” you ask? No I don’t know, except not 2008. Going by the last generations Final Fantasy release schedule I would guess Feb/March 2009 in Japan then November 2009 for the U.S.

Not only is this franchise getting a brand new game in the series for retail release, but also a glossed up remake of the original title for XBLA and PS3 Network. That’s right kids one of Falthorn’s personal favorites is getting the work over according to a little news break over at IGN. But this is not your standard blur smoothing effect, classic arcade cash in for Capcom. No, they love us so much that they are giving us our favorite 2D gameplay with all new 3D assets, and story overhaul more akin to the NES release of yore. It would seem that the Big C has been rather nostalgic lately between this, the Street Fighter remake and sequel and the recently released Umbrella Chronicles for Wii. Personally I’m thrilled to revisit these great franchises, although I really would like to see that sequel to Dead Rising I keep writing them about.

Just a quick update to the news Falthorn broke a little earlier today on the big Star Wars crossover. It appears that fanboy dreams of Vader vs Yoda may not come to fruition after all, as each character is an exclusive to each system.
2 commentsWarner goes Blu
For those few that are under a rock you should know Warner announced Friday they were going Blu-ray exclusive and bringing their little dog New Line along with them too. In response the HD-DVD consortium canceled/postponed their CES conference, most likely stuck in a “WTF!” moment.
The details are here in this Variety article. The internet speculation is already running rampant with rumors of Toshiba closing up HD-DVD shop and letting Paramount out of their exclusive deal. As crazy as this format war has been nothing would surprise at this point. Putting fanboy ties aside those that actually want HD Media to succeed can at least finally let out a sigh of relief as this format battle seems to be coming to a close. And those sitting on the fence can actually jump in now.
3 commentsEye of Judgment - or How I learned to Love the Innovation Bomb
When PS3 was first unveiled many moons ago one of the games that caught my eye the most was Eye of Judgment. The concept was fresh and the idea of using the Eye Toy for something more then waving your hands around looking silly was intriguing. The game was finally released this past fall and like most things related to Sony lately the pill is bittersweet.
1 commentPS3 - backwards compatibility update?
This morning, I sat down to finish the last 5% of Final Fantasy 12, which I’d been procrastinating on for…well, since it came out. Now it may be my post-new-year celebration mind playing tricks on me or lowered expectations following a spate of Wii gaming, but the game seems to look a hell of a lot better than I remember.

The End is Near…
End of the year that is. As I write this in the final day of 2007 I trust everyone had the bestest of your respective holidays, ate lots of food and got tons of kick ass gifts. I know I did, s’matter of fact one of my favorite gifts out of that bunch was “Uncharted: Drakes Fortune”. Now I know Bioshock has been getting tons of praise across multiple channels as the Game of the Year, but in my mind Drakes edges that one out based on the fact that if feels more like a fun time.
