Let the Burning Adventure of the Soul Begin!

July 29th, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

Just picked up my copy of Soul Calibur IV for Xbox 360.  Sadly i’ll have to wait until after work before I get to give it a go. But at least I can ogle the schwag until then…

Word to Yer Moms, M$ Came to Drop Bombs!

July 14th, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

And they just kept dropping, and dropping. So it looks like Microsoft is trying to continue their trade show dominance by once again blowing away the general press public with not only all the confirmations we were hoping for, but also a big Square-Enix jawdropper with FFXIII.

Xbox 360 The New Home for JRPG’s?

June 10th, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

ms-hearts-japan.jpgIt would appear that in it’s ever futile bid to woo the Japanese gamer market Microsoft is once again trying to wow the Nipponese populace with shiny new RPG’s. Sure there have been a few released in the systems lifespan thus far (Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, etc.) and some were from big names in the JRPG community, but now M$ is firing the Big Guns.

That’s right folks, Square-Enix is finally ready to play for real on the white box, which should finally answer the age old question: is the Square name enough to drive system sales? Of course one could argue that a true Final Fantasy exclusive would be required for such a monumental task, but in all honesty isn’t a new franchise more interesting?

EA Loves the MicroTrans’

March 26th, 2008 | Category: General, Playstation 3, XBox 360

you paid how much!?

In a move that should surprise no one, EA has decided to milk… I mean provide their fine customers a chance to enhance their purchase of Battlefield: Bad Company with a selection of several additional weapons via the various digital marketplaces. It’s common knowledge that EA, Namco and really just about all the big boys nowadays, have learned to embrace the digital distribution channels available with the current gen systems, but some have made their offerings more consumer friendly and or worthwhile than others. I mean who can forget Oblivion’s horse armor? It was armor… for your horse… that, unlike in an MMORPG, no one else but you would ever really enjoy, and served no practical purpose in the game.

Lost Odyssey Journal - The 1,000 Year Old Virgin

March 18th, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

The fires are starting to burn out, the dogs tied up and Kaim and company are coming home.  Finally on the 4th and last disc of this Odyssey that while not lost most assuredly will be missed.  There have been some recent twists and turns in the plot but nothing that would surprise most people that have played any other RPGs in the past.  Even finally starting to grind a bit due to the last half of the 3rd disc being chock full of cutscenes.  Out of the few complaints I have for this game that would be a big one. Lost Odyssey Journal - Grandma is Hot!

March 12th, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

To avoid spoilers for those that have yet to play this game (and you WILL play it) I will not elaborate on the title.  Suffice to say the grandma is indeed hot.  Breezing on through to disc 3 of Lost Odyssey and still moving at a comfortable pace.

Erased Xbox Guy Gets Swag ++

March 07th, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

who loves ya baby?So the dude that has his one of a kind autographed Xbox360 refurbed made out like a bandit with a surprise goody pack from Bungie themselves. The saga continues over at Hawty’s Blog with some pics and details. Now I want to make sure it’s clear that my post about the issue was not meant to downplay the crap factor of the situation, I know I would be super pissed had it happened to me. But it was more to complain about all the hate generated towards M$ from the comments and forums (which is often filled with idiots anyhow). I can understand that maybe this guy was clueless about how these sort of things work, I still say the blame is half him half repair center (for also being clueless).

Lost Odyssey Journal - Dreaming of Disc Two

March 03rd, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

Upwards and onwards on my merry adventures with Kaim and his crew of pirates. I mean soldiers. I mean traveling insurance salesmen. Oh never mind, I forgot who they were. What I do know is the gameplay is really starting to click with me now after some time with it. It’s hit that magical balance of deep enough to keep me interested yet not so tedious and cumbersome to drive me mad. They have also hit that median of leveling that someone could just play through without grinding and so far be just fine in boss battles. Which is good considering how story heavy this game is.

Lost Odyssey Journal - A Wind Named Amnesia

February 26th, 2008 | Category: XBox 360

RPG’s are a very personal thing to me so I decided instead of doing a normal review for Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360 you will get my ongoing impressions on the game in a journal format. So you lucky readers get to feel every emotion and letdown the game has to offer as I do giving you immediate impressions instead of stale ones. I was expecting a lot of this game being an ambitious release from Microsoft and the father of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi. So far i’m getting totally lost in this game, in a good way.

Opening Pandora’s Box - Devil May Cry 4

February 22nd, 2008 | Category: Playstation 3, XBox 360

I’m sure Falthorn is still working through all the harder settings and getting nice and bloody in the palace.  In the meantime I thought it might be good to give a quick impression of the final game.  With the avalanche of games coming in and a big one for me with Lost Odyssey (look for my chronicles of this game starting this weekend) I decided to just play the wimpy Human mode and finish this game off in one weekend with a quick run through.  I would say i’m happy with this game, not impressed, but happy.
