ouch!In their desire to ensure that this beautiful little masterpiece not only receives updated visuals, but also holds true to it’s roots, Capcom has submitted Bionic Commando Rearmed to the ESRB and accepted it’s M rating.

News from the BCR official blog fills us in on this gung ho attitude and just makes me feel a little warm and fuzzy inside. I think it’s great that they’re willing to not only put a lot of polish into this product, but also maintain a level of conviction to it’s source material. Now I can’t wait to punch somebodies face in with a mechanical arm!

Armchair Developers Take Note!

Alright, first Microsoft gives you kids XNA. Then Nintendo throws out some budget dev apps for WiiWare. Now Sony has thrown their hat into the ring with PSN Developer kits. Long winded details from Gamasutra mention that for the low, low price of $1200 you too can get this all in one debug unit and PSN distribution kit. And if you act now they’ll throw in a free PhyreEngine middleware app to make the next best selling title with.

Truth be told this is a good deal for budding talent with out the connections to get signed by a big publisher, or maybe for any defunct former PC development teams looking to regroup and keep doing what they love. Bottom line is, there is no good reason for you amateurs not to be making me some killer new games to play on the cheap. Now get crackin’… cracky!

Bionic Commando is Quite a Swinger

Not only is this franchise getting a brand new game in the series for retail release, but also a glossed up remake of the original title for XBLA and PS3 Network. That’s right kids one of Falthorn’s personal favorites is getting the work over according to a little news break over at IGN. But this is not your standard blur smoothing effect, classic arcade cash in for Capcom. No, they love us so much that they are giving us our favorite 2D gameplay with all new 3D assets, and story overhaul more akin to the NES release of yore. It would seem that the Big C has been rather nostalgic lately between this, the Street Fighter remake and sequel and the recently released Umbrella Chronicles for Wii. Personally I’m thrilled to revisit these great franchises, although I really would like to see that sequel to Dead Rising I keep writing them about.
